Presentation Assignment

 

Choose one author you are particularly drawn to, and begin your research on her bringing your findings together in a PowerPoint presentation or a website presentation as a tribute to your chosen author.  All sources of information must be cited in proper parenthetical citations. 

 

Section 1:  Title and Organization

 

1-2 slides of Introduction to your topic: include your name and title of presentation        

 

Section 2:  Biographical Information: (2-4 slides)

Keep this section concise and interesting with visuals (if you insert photos, do not skew them – only insert what looks good)

Relevant childhood data:  family, education, travels, etc

Relevant publication data

Major awards & honors

Any other interesting biographical data

 

Section 3:  Overview of Major Themes & Concerns: (2-4 slides)

What are some of the important information bits about this author’s writings that scholars focus on?  What is she known for?  Why is she important in terms of contributions to the literature of women?

 

This is a critical, analytical portion of writing; hence there should be no use of 1st (I) or 2nd (you) person Discuss the poetry or literature in terms of positives (or negatives) it (and the author) has had on the literature of women. This portion must contain at least three (3) different in-text citations from secondary critical sources.

 

Section 4:  Conclusion: 1-3 slides should include a sample of the author's work and a meaningful close.

 

Section 5: The Bibliography (1-2 slides)

This section must follow MLA format and include the sources of all the poems, biographical sources, and critical sources (at least 3 of which have been used in the overview of themes section).  Make sure your parentheticals match your bibliography.
